Can I help you?

As the RecFIN System Programmer/Analyst I manage the Recreational Fisheries Information Network Database. The data are largely contained in SAS. I perform statistical analysis, estimation and presentation of recreational fisheries data on the Pacific coast. I am working on integration of various recreational fisheries information sources into this database and designing and implementing internet access to the data through form queries. The historical source of data is the NMFS Marine Recreational Statistics Survey. The current sources are the various state programs. I manage the technical flow of California data from sampler to data entry unit, clean up, review and estimation of estimates. The data are uploaded to NMFS headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland for archival purposes. I supply and perform analysis of these data for the Pacific coastal fish agencies of Washington, Oregon and California, NMFS personel in the Southwest and Northwest Regions, the Pacifc Fisheries Management Council and to various other agencies and individuals nationwide.

Brief Biographical Sketch

Wade was formally trained as a wildlife biologist and science teacher, was self-taught as a computer scientist. Forced to deal with massive amounts of fishery data with an antiquated fish and game computer, he purchased his own machine and programmed his way to a career as a Marine Fisheries Programmer/Analyst.
