Goals

RecFIN works to develop a data system for marine sport fisheries with the following goals:
Established in 1992, the Pacific Coast Recreational Fisheries Information Network is designed to integrate state and federal marine recreational fishery sampling efforts into a single database to provide important biological, social, and economic data for Pacific coast recreational fishery biologists, managers and anglers.

  • Develop and implement a State/Federal cooperative program for a coastwide marine recreational fisheries data system.
  • Coordinate collection, management, and dissemination of Pacific coast marine recreational fishery data.
  • Provide centralized, timely, and standardized data needed to support state and federal work on Pacific marine recreational fisheries.
  • Reduce and avoid duplication of data collection efforts between RecFIN members.
